Kasbah Tamadot was the former home of Luciano Tempo who purchased the property and filled it with beautiful antiques from India, Africa and the Far East. In 1998 Richard Branson went to Morocco with the goal of circumnavigating the globe in a hot air balloon. Whilst there, his parents found a beautiful Kasbah and eventually convinced him to purchase the property. Kasbah Tamadot is now one of Morocco’s most sought after hideaways, and its peaceful surroundings are reflected in the name, which means ‘soft breeze’ in Berber. This property is located about 45 minutes’ drive from the Marrakech Airport and an hour’s drive from central Marrakech just beyond the village of Asni. From Kasbah Tamadot, the traditional Berber village of Tasghart built into the side of the mountain can be seen.

Kasbah Tamadot provides guests a sense of staying in a Moroccan home rather than a hotel

Kasbah Tamadot provides guests a sense of staying in a Moroccan home rather than a hotel by employing local Berber staff from the surrounding villages. The architecture and interiors of this resplendent property reflect its Moroccan roots as well as influences from the world over. With breathtaking views, the extensive grounds planted with a huge variety of evergreen and flowering plants are filled with beautiful staircases, courtyards and landscaped gardens to enjoy. The property has 27 rooms and suites where the spirit and traditional charm of Moroccan design is beautifully blended with contemporary elements, creating an ambience of luxurious serenity and exotic adventure.

On the ground level are two internal courtyards, an indoor pool, the spa, a Hammam and access to the outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and the Master Suite. A main staircase leads up to a traditional Moroccan painted courtyard that surrounds a deep blue reflecting pool on the first floor. Opening from here are a series of bedrooms, the library and the restaurant. Within the stepped landscape is the pool complex; the upper terrace is where lunch is usually served and features a bar, while a grand staircase leads down to the infinity pool, reflecting the sky and affording views to the valley below and mountains above.

The Main Building has 15 rooms and suites. The Master Suite, a miniature version of Kasbah Tamadot sitting out on a promontory is located a few minutes walk away at the end of the garden. The building itself is rich in architectural detail and affords complete privacy. Within the Master Suite are a Deluxe Room and a Deluxe Suite at the lower level, with a private pool and rooms that can interconnect. On the upper floor is a Superior Room with huge roof terrace. The Master Suite is perfect for a larger party, or those seeking a true escape. Rooms within the Master Suite are generally not sold separately until two months before arrival, depending on availability. This is generally hired privately as a three bedroom cottage.

The Architecture And Interiors Of This Resplendent Property Reflects Its Moroccan Roots As Well Influences From The World Over

Perched on the hillside overlooking a pretty valley below, the nine Berber Tents offer stunning views of the Atlas Mountains. Each tent features a king-size bed, large bathtubs for soaking, a terrace with sun loungers and space for outdoor dining, and five of them have a private Jacuzzi. The luxurious tents are decorated in a similar style to the rooms in the main building, with Moroccan inspired furnishings, and come equipped with split air conditioning/heating units to keep cool in summer and warm in winter. As with the existing rooms at Kasbah Tamadot, all the tents have Berber names that tell you something about them. Due to the tents’ hillside location, children aged 11 and under are unable to stay overnight.

Guests can spend time at the indoor pool and spa area. Here a dark blue tiled pool offers views to the lushly planted garden outside, with loungers around the edge. Off the pool room is a traditional Moroccan Hammam and sauna. There is a shower and changing rooms, along with two treatment rooms. These have been designed to create a truly relaxing experience. There is also an additional treatment room a short walk from the infinity pool which has some fantastic views over the adjacent valley.
