Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani is the name bestowed on the USD 60,000 water bottle. A price tag a result of an auction in Mexico, the handcrafted bottle remains as the world’s most expensive bottle of water to date.

Fernando Altamirano (nickname Paolo di Verachi) conceived this latest creation, which follows in the wake of his record for the world’s most expensive tequila and cognac bottles.

As the name of the water bottle implies the design is a tribute to the late Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani. Primarily a figurative artist, Modigliani gained renown for sculptures and paintings that were characterised by mask-like faces and elongation of form.

The Acqua di Cristallo bottle takes after the unmistakable form of the Modigliani elongated head sculptures, one of which was sold at the Christie’s auction in Paris for USD 52.8 million.

The sum of USD 60,000 that the ‘Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani’ raised at the auction in Mexico was made towards the Plan3t Foundation to fund its battle against global warming.

Continuing the legacy of the Modigliani design inspiration Fernando has also created a dummy bottle ‘Tributo Modigliani, Diamond Sterling’ made of platinum, sterling, silver, gold and 6,000 diamonds, resulting in an estimated value of USD 3.3 million. The replica stands to be the most expensive bottle in the world.

In addition a series of dummy sculptures ‘Tributo Ad Amedeo Modigliani’ have been designed in the likeness of the Modigliani sculpture. One such creation complete with gold, diamonds, rubies and emeralds is valued at 4.5 million dollars.

Aside from the staggering prices of inspired design, a range of luxury water bottles designed in varying forms of plating is also available for purchase. With prices ranging from USD 3,600 to USD 275 each of these bottles comes packaged in its own travelling case and an authenticity and limited edition certificate signed by the author.
