CHOPARD

Louis-Ulysse founded the Chopard brand in 1860, known for its hallmarks of creativity and quality. To date, Chopard produces high-precision watches and jewellery through a versatile combination of innovative design, high technology and traditional craftsmanship. Chopard watches available in Sri Lanka through Chatham Luxury Watches, possess the distinct trademark of free moving diamonds…

THE ICONIC HAPPY SPORT

In 1993 Chopard launched an innovative collection where for the very first time, a watch combined steel and diamonds, setting new standards in design codes in the field of ladies’ watches.

The Happy Sport collection appeals to the sentiments of contemporary and dynamic women with a combination of strength and delicacy, of tradition and innovation. These traits are expressed through a range encompassing small and large sizes; square, round and oval shapes; alligator leather straps or metal bracelets. Furthermore, they come in a rich palette of colours.

The dials feature the whirling charm of moving diamonds, four-leaf clovers, snowflakes or fish, some framed by a bezel set with precious stones and designed like a sparkling playground.

20 years later Happy Sport has become a cult design.

DIAMONDS IN MOTION

In 1976 a talented Chopard designer gave birth to the revolutionary concept of mobile diamonds. Inspired by the radiance of the inimitable diamonds the revolutionary concept was born—the creation of a watch with free moving diamonds, unfettered by any metal. The concept became a reality with the resultant ‘HAPPY DIAMONDS’, a tribute to the most precious stone in the world.

A dial between two sapphire watch crystals surrounded by diamonds in free play, give an exceptional glow to each passing second. This innovative concept saw success with the first HAPPY DIAMONDS watch for men and it was decided that an international patent would protect the model.

 HIGH JEWELLERY MEETS FINE WATCHMAKING

Another 20-year celebratory Happy Sport; the Happy Sport Diamantissimo epitomises Chopard’s two fields of expertise. This jewellery watch is exceptional in that it called for no less than 4,500 hours of work out of which 1,700 hours were spent for gem setting alone. The dial, case and bracelet links are embellished using the “invisible” setting technique that is particularly hard to master.

MOVING DIAMONDS MEET MECHANICAL MOVEMENT

To mark the jubilee year for Happy Sport, the iconic collection introduced a mechanical interpretation—the new Happy Sport Medium Automatic.

Adding a mechanical dimension to its natural charm the new Happy Sport Medium Automatic reveals a guilloché silver-toned dial. It is a throwback to the decorative traditions of classical watchmaking and affords innovative means to highlight the seven moving diamonds. On the back, a sapphire crystal allows visibility of the mechanical self-winding movement adorned with a straight Côtes de Genève motif also known as Geneva stripes. Its 36mm diameter steel or 18ct rose gold case is water-resistant to 30 metres and is fitted with an alligator leather strap or an 18ct rose gold bracelet.
